- Volunteer Training
is underway! Call for class schedules: 209-533-8930
One of the best ways to help us is to “sponsor” one or more of our horses. Feed and maintenance is substantial for each of our ’equine therapists’. We appreciate the support of the following local families and Corporations that have stepped forward to assist.
Blue Angel, Mare, Born: Aug 11, 2000 Acquired at age 10 months. Black and White Tobiano Paint, Tennessee Walking Horse, 14-2 hands.
‘Angel’ is currently the Alpha mare of the ranch, being the most dominant in the herd hierarchy, yet the most affectionate toward human interaction. Angel is easily matched with any rider and the best suited for ground school. Her maternal demeanor and quiet nature allows her to focus well and connect with riders between the ages of 4-84. Angel is extremely coordinated and seems to know where her feet are at all times. We can count on her to hold extremely still while being brushed and fussed over.

Missy, Mare, Born April 21, 2001 Acquired at age 4 months.
‘Missy’ is # 2 mare. Chestnut coloring with flaxen mane and tail. Tennessee Walking Horse, 15-2 hands. Missy has a mischievous character and a flashy appearance. Program volunteers jokingly refer to her as ‘Barbie’; the beauty- with her head in the clouds. Missy performs wonderfully with children in a controlled class situation, and does best when matched with our larger riders.

Krysti, Welsh Pony Mare. Born 1999. Strawberry Roan. 46″ tall
‘Krysti’ was donated to us by a local family. For 5 years she was companion to a young boy. As little boys grow and go onto full size horses, Krysti had minimal interaction before coming to our ranch. With daily attention she is now active and supple. Welsh Ponies are known for their sweet dispositions and Krysti is a gem!

Rosie, mini horse. Estimated date of birth: 2005. Sorrel Red. 29″ tall
‘Rosie’ was donated to us by a local family in the fall of 2010. Little is known about her past but we feel she had a lot of interaction because she is so mild mannered and willing with everyone. Rosie is quite a sight in her braids and bows as we transport her in the cab of the ranch pickup to special events. She has been the perfect ambassador to the ranch since there is little intimidation from a horse the size of a dog. Pictured here is Rosie with 2 year old Kayla Cody. This tiny horse wins the hearts of everyone that meets her.

CoCo-Puff, Mini colt, born May 2, 2011 at MDC Ranch.
‘CoCo’ was a surprise hidden by Rosie’s thick winter coat. Weighing in at a whopping 15 pounds and 18 inches tall, he has had MANY visitors. With strong legs and personality, he may be pulling a tiny cart someday soon.
